Located just off I-4 near the Mall at Millenia, our state-of-the-art training facility can be easily accessed in minutes from all areas of Orlando. The center includes five regulation-length, grounded, competition fencing strips with overhead reels, and scoring repeaters. Impact absorbing flooring provides a training surface designed to minimize muscle & joint fatigue and maximize athletic performance so athletes of all ages can train safely. A cozy visitors’ lounge includes a coffee & cold beverage bar.

COACHING STAFF

Robert Szokolay - HEAD COACH

Robert began fencing 45+ years ago while at Wayne State University, where he studied under Hungarian Fencing Master and Hall of Fame Coach, Istvan Danosi. He was a Varsity letter winner on the 1977 and 1978 teams, and went on to win the Georgia Divisional in Men's Épée. In 2015, Robert joined Music City Fencing Club in Nashville, TN where, soon after, he began coaching. His students have gone on to win regional medals, and qualify for both the Jr. Olympics, and the U.S. National Championships.

Robert continues to compete at the National level, and was recently ranked in the top 10 in the United States in his cohort (Vet-60 Men’s Épée). At the 2019 U.S. National Fencing Championships, he advanced to the semi-finals, earning the bronze medal at the in Vet-60 Men’s Épée, losing only his final bout to the former Veteran World Champion, Walter Dragonetti.

Coach Robert’s granddaughter, Mariah, is also a competitive fencer and regularly trains with him.
